Dearest Mother has taught me
the number act within its art
How mere it is in thy sight
Yet germane in its entirety.
Dearest Mother has taught me
How a genuine love could lead one forward;
Yet I feel another type of love on board;
A love that shatters every number.
Dearest Mother has taught me
that love in every dimension is ageless
that love is ever strong and fearless
Even in our youth or in our feeble state.
Dearest Mother has taught me
to believe I am very young man with flair,
Fair and a promising lad with grey hair
Perhaps wisdom is not in the greater digits.
Dearest Mother has taught me
that to be successful I have to stay connected
to one in whom everything was created.
To one supreme—the ageless one
Dearest Mother has taught me
it matters not how long I wait,
the number of years that await;
“those are irrelevant in restoration scheme,” she said.
Dearest Mother has taught me
to observe these very calls,
these deeper things after all
will always be more than numbers.
